FOB v’s CIF Imports to the UK

Did you know the competition for CIF freight in China is so fierce that it has actually forced most UK destination charges to be higher than if the shipment was sent freight collect!
The local market rate for LCL cargo in China has for a long while been negative, which in turn has put more pressure on UK importers to pay higher UK charges. At Cardinal we are trying to encourage people to negotiate FOB terms with their suppliers and thus reduce their overall costs.

Turkish Delight – New LCL service from Turkey to UK

Next month will see the start of a pioneering service by Cardinal Maritime Ltd with new LCL services from Izmir and Istanbul direct to Felixstowe.
These will be at least 40% less than equivalent groupage road freight and with a transit time of 9 days will make a very great alternative. (more…)
