The Cardinal Trust’s Christmas donation to the Wellspring

wellspring-webEvery year the Cardinal Trust nominates a charity to make a special Christmas donation to as part of our ongoing commitment to sharing our success and vision with the community that supports us. This year we’ve chosen to make our Christmas donation to the Wellspring centre for homeless and disadvantaged people in Stockport, a charity close to our hearts and one our team have supported before, notably as our nominated charity during this year’s Great Manchester Run.

run2014-web

The Wellspring provides support for homeless and vulnerable people, including food services, shower facilities, clean clothing, blankets and sleeping bags, as well as a range of advice and support services including mediation, support with phone calls, utility accounts and much more. The centre is open 365 days a year and is dependent on donations from the general public, local businesses, schools, churches and other organisations. For more information, visit their website.

Giving something back to the community is a big part of the Cardinal Maritime philosophy and we were very proud to be able to help a local charity over the festive season.

Pudsey visits the Cardinal offices for Children in Need

pudsey-webOur November Dress Down Day was in aid of a very special cause – we raised £250 for Children in Need as part of their annual appeal. We were lucky enough to receive a visit from Pudsey himself to thank the Cardinal staff for their fundraising efforts!

Children in Need provides grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged. The charity is local to people in all corners of the UK and supports small and large organisations which empower children and extend their life choices. Here at Cardinal we’re proud to be able to contribute to this very worthy cause.

Biking to Blackpool for Donna’s Dream House

Cardinal cyclistsThis July the Cardinal Maritime cycling team will be biking from Manchester United football ground to Blackpool’s South Promenade in order to raise money for Donna’s Dream House, following on from last year’s success. Micky Simmonds, Ashley Mellon, Charlie McGonagle, Chris Day, Laura Simmonds, Erica Hutchinson, Ben Capsey, Nicola Barker, Peter Campbell, Emily Plant and Matthew Rhind are hoping to raise £500 for the charity.

Donna’s Dream House, based in Blackpool, provides free holiday experiences for children and teenagers with life-threatening illnesses and their families, and for recently bereaved siblings and their families. The charity relies on donations in order to carry out its good work, and we felt that it was such a good cause that we’re supporting it for the second year running. We hope you’ll help us to raise money for this very worthy cause!

If you want to donate through our JustGiving page you can do so at https://www.justgiving.com/cardinalcyclists2014/

Our runners have Smashed their target

picture bupaThey’ve done it again! Our 14 Cardinal Maritime runners successfully completed the BUPA 10k Manchester Run this May, raising £925 for our chosen charity The Wellspring. Charlie McGonagle, Chris Bartram, Chris Day, Chris Heath, Craig Cooper, Dean Forkin, Dean Preston, Elizabeth Ellis, Natalie Gillard, Nick Thompson, Nova Sarkissian, Phoebe Fox, Sarah Lawrenson and Rob Cross collectively smashed last year’s total by £175.

As part of Europe’s biggest 10k running event, more than a quarter of a million passionate runners took to the streets of Manchester to achieve their individual goals. Since 2003, the Great Manchester Run has attracted swarms of people year on year with Cardinal Maritime being no exception.

run-resize1The Wellspring, based in Stockport, actively engage and care for the homeless and disadvantaged. As well as helping with accommodation, The Wellspring provide educational help to enable these individuals in the long run. As they are dependent on both financial and material donations, we thought this was a worthwhile charity to receive our support each year.

Even though the run is over, you can still show your support by donating through JustGiving – it’s simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.
